Leeds plays host to a festival of running over the weekend of July 8th and 9th when thousands of runners of all ages pull on their trainers for two top charity road runs.

A number of roads in the city will be closed or have restricted access over the two days to ensure the safety of all those taking part - here is the full list below:

The fun gets underway on Saturday 8th July when hundreds of children will line up for the free Arena Group Leeds Mini and Junior Run at Leeds Dock, many of them raising money for Winston’s Wish, a charity which supports children, young people and their families after the death of a parent or sibling.

The event starts at 10am, and road closures will be in place around the Dock area from around 9.30am to 11.30am. Roads that will be closed are Armouries Drive, Clarence Road, Sayner Lane, Carlisle Road, Chadwick Street South and Chadwick Street. Parking will be suspended from Friday 8th July at 6pm to Saturday 9th July until 11.30am on Armouries Drive, Clarence Road and Sayner Lane.

The following day it’s the turn of the adults when thousands of runners will hit the streets for the 11th running of the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K, which starts at 9.30am.

Closures in the city centre will begin from 4am. A number of other roads around the 10km route will also be affected or have access restricted. The roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Roads affected by the closures include: Abbey Road, Great George Street, Calverley Street, Cookridge Street, Vicar Lane, Call Lane, Wellington Street, Kirkstall Road, West Street and The Headrow.
