Firefighters from Cookridge and Rawdon stations were called to a house in Rose Avenue, Horsforth last night to deal with the blaze.

The fire caused large amounts of damage to the basement. The smoke spread slightly to the upstairs of the house however the three occupants escaped unhurt.

A crew member at Cookridge fire station said: "Just keep an eye on fridges and freezers, especially if they are old."
