Our purpose
Headingley Development Trust was set up by local residents to take action to ensure the future sustainability of Headingley as a community. If Headingley was a sustainable community what would it look like? The Government's Department for Communities and Local Government defines sustainable communities as follows:
Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work, now and in the future. They met the diverse needs of existing and future residents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and run, and offer equality of opportunity and good services for all.
The Trust believes Headingley is currently a long way from meeting these criteria. However Headingley Development Trust is working in a number of distinctive ways to help make progress towards their achievement. Anyone may join HDT, whether they live in Headingley or not and details can be found on our website at the above address.
