A new children's play and recreation area has been built in Weetwood thanks to an £80,000 investment by Leeds City Council's Inner North West Area Committee.
The Silk Mills Play Area, off Silk Mill Close, will feature numerous pieces of play equipment, as well as a covered meeting point in the youth area and a basketball hoop.

The play and recreation area was established to provide somewhere for young people from the Silk Mills and Tinshill areas to get involved in sports – including netball and basketball – and other recreational activities.

Coun Les Carter, executive board member responsible for area management, said: "Our area committees are determined to make the communities they serve better places to live and this is a great example of the positive impact their work can have."
