Commonwealth celebration at Leeds Minster
Drummers and dancers from the Punjabi Roots Academy kicked off the celebrations in style with a colourful procession beneath a canopy of 53 flags showcasing the nations of the Commonwealth.
Among those taking part were the Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dame Dr Ingrid Roscoe, The High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, Richard Jackson, and the Lord Mayor of Leeds Coun Jane Dowson.

Hide AdThe service was led by Rector of Leeds Minster, the Rev Canon Sam Corley, with an address by the Bishop of Leeds, Rt Rev Nick Baines, who spoke about the principles of independence, mutality and selfless generosity which he said underpin the values of the Commonwealth today.
