'A thoroughly nasty assault': Leeds dad repeatedly kicked his partner on bedroom floor as she held onto their baby

Jermaine Sofekun carried out the attack on the woman at her home in Leeds after they argued and she told him the relationship was over.

Leeds Crown Court heard Sofekun turned violent after arguing with the victim in the early hours of January 3 this year.

Sofekun and the woman had been in a relationship for three years.

They have a 14-month-old child together and she has a seven-year-old child.

Emma Handley, prosecuting, said the defendant told the woman that the relationship was over and she went to bed around 11.30pm.

Hours later the 33-year-old defendant went to the bedroom, grabbed the woman by the foot and began shaking her leg.
