Adcocks enjoy opening round win at All England Badminton Open

GABBY Adcock is determined to take each day as it comes after she and husband Chris sealed their spot in the second round of the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships on Wednesday.

The Adcocks, seeded seventh, faced Yong Kai Terry Hee and Wei Han Tan in their opening tie at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena, with their sights set on going further than their semi-final finish last year.

They made light work of their clash with the Singapore pair, settling straight into their match before cruising to a 21-9 victory in the opening game.

While their opponents found their feet in the second, the Adcocks soon wrapped up proceedings on court, triumphing 21-18 to progress to the last 16.

And for Adcock, more of the same is in order on Thursday as the world number seven duo look to continue their fine run of form.

“We’re pleased with how that went, it’s always quite a nervy start at the All England,” she said.

“We want to play well and just get the ball rolling with a good start. I think we did that today.
