The 17-year-old finalised a two-year contract at Thorp Arch today, less than a year after joining the Elland Road club as a scholar. Vieira - one of two brothers named Ronaldo and Romario on account of their parents’ passion for Brazilian football - has been a regular for United’s Under-21s this season. He was previously on the books of Portuguese giants Benfica and secured a two-year scholarship deal last summer after undergoing a successful trial. Vieira told United’s official website: “It’s been a great season for me and I’ve worked hard for it. It’s great to get rewarded with this. “I first found out just over a month ago. I got called into the office and I was offered a new two-year deal - I couldn’t stop smiling.”
