Your Leeds United views: Relegation seems like only way out of Championship
John Lumb, Ferrybridge
How on earth are Leeds United supposed to get out of this division (Championship)?
We are serving up is dross, week in-week out!
And the players they are bringing in are, to say the least, average.

Tracking back is really kids’ play

It doesn’t matter what formation we (Leeds United) play because if players are just going to allow someone to run 40 yards without a challenge and then score, well, what can you do?
Even as a kid you’re taught to close down players and track your man’s run!
It’s time to talk proper tactics

I have to laugh when people start talking (Leeds United) tactics, but clearly do not have a clue.

Hide AdA 4-4-2 could work, but last night (Tuesday against Brentford) Luke Murphy was poor, Lewis Cook, on the left, was a mistake, and Chris Wood was taken off which changed the gaffer’s plans.
Brentford cut through the centre mostly due to the lack of mobility in the centre (of Leeds United’s line-up), and I mean Murphy and Liam Cooper.
Their goal was evidence of this. It took a while but (head coach) Steve Evans eventually made the right choices in taking Murphy off and putting on a proper ball-winner in ‘big Dave’ (Toumani Diagouraga). I am really confused at what Murphy brings. He is poor technically and doesn’t provide much defensively or offensively.
Cook cannot be judged from performances out of position. At the moment he may be best served in the hole of a 4-2-3-1 in front of Diagouraga and Liam Bridcutt, allowing Cook time to create for Souleymane Doukara, who is a beast.

Hide AdMustapha Carayol and Stuart Dallas can provide flexibility out wide that can see us transition from a defensive 4-4-1-1 to a 4-2-3-1.
It’s not difficult, just round pegs in round holes.
A new centre-back and right-back would improve us immensly, but spending time in the right formation will also add value.
Evans is a good and likeable manager who we need to get behind, and it is rare that someone admits a mistake. Let’s all give him time and get behind him ... Like proper fans would.
